Launched on April 1, 1968 as South Korea’s first-ever integrated steel mill with the national mission of achieving industrialization, POSCO is presently equipped with a crude steel production system capable of producing 41 million tons annually and pursues various global projects in 53 countries around the world, including production and sales activities.
In 2010, POSCO Group Indonesia founded Southeast Asia’s first-ever integrated steel mill in the city of Cilegon in Indonesia's Banten Province in conjunction with Indonesia’s state-owned steel maker PT. Krakatau Steel where it currently produces 3 million tons of steel a year. Moreover, a total of 9 POSCO Group affiliates, including the Karawang Regency, West Java Province-based steel processor PT. POSCO IJPC and the Merauke Regency, Papua Province-based palm plantation PT. Bio Inti Agrindo, are currently operating in various industries all across Indonesia, including the trade, construction and IT industries, growing along with the industrialization of Indonesia.
